BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS RETURN WITH NEW ADDITIONS TO THE TEAM

Triumphant back-to-back Champions the MG Mystics retain the majority of the current squad with eight players re-signing for 2025, while welcoming the addition of two new talented players.

Current Australian Diamond shooter Donnell Wallam joins the team and will make her ANZ Premiership debut in 2025.  At 193cm tall the West Australian will add height to the shooting circle.

Stars foundation member and versatile defender/mid-courter Holly Fowler makes her way back to the Mystics having played for the team in 2016. Donnell Wallam will join returning goal-attack Filda Vui and versatile shooter Hannah Glen to complete the shooting circle.

“Donnell has incredible firepower” says Mystics Coach Tia Winikerei.  “We are looking forward to blending her abilities with Filda and Hannah in-circle and can’t wait to see how the dynamic skill sets of our feeders combine with Donnell’s space creation and her ability to shoot accurately with variety and range”.

Michaela Sokolich-Beatson returns to the squad, alongside fellow experienced defender Phoenix Karaka.  After impressing with a full contract this season, young defender Catherine Hall has earnt a second season with the team, with the inclusion of Holly Fowler rounding out the defensive end.

Winikerei says Holly is built to play defence the Mystics way.  “She is super quick and wins ball using her speed and intelligence to close down an attacker and their space.  These skills are highly complementary to Catherine’s stealth, Phoenix’s athleticism, and Michaela’s grit.”

Peta Toeava, Tayla Earle and Katie Te Ao return to the Mystics joining Michaela Sokolich-Beatson to complete a strong and athletic midcourt.

Northern Mystics CEO Phil Vyver says, “We are thrilled to have retained largely the same team, with the addition of two new talented players. The 2025 team is looking strong, and we are excited to see what this team can achieve next season.”

“2025 is a year of opportunities for the Mystics” says Winikerei.  “The change in both circles provides us with the stimulus we will need to keep sharpening our competitive edge and I am excited we have retained 80% of our team.”

“We have worked hard to build a culture and a legacy that our people can enjoy, and we remain committed to developing local talent, and continuously providing playing opportunities for our full squad.  Our premiership success is built off the collective strengths of the whole team.”
